On offer is this exceptionally good , antique English sterling silver trophy loving cup and cover bearing the hallmarks  for  Sheffield 1859  and the makers mark of Henry Wilkinson .  The trophy loving cup and cover is of very  good  size and weight . The overall height is 15.4  " , the diameters are ,  base , 6  " , cup top 6.4  " and the handle width is  12.2 " . The  weight is  1651  grams , 53.08   troy ounces .
This is an exceptionally beautiful , interesting piece of silverware and  the history of farming the land. The theme shown on the cup and cover is that of agriculture . The whole is incredibly covered  in high Victorian style with extensive repousse decoration
. In addition to the ususal swags , floral and foliar motifs, garlands et al , there are two wonderful depictions ..... to the front of the cup , under the vacant cartouche , is a repousse hand plough , and to the back , also under a vacant cartouche , is an extensive landscape with a sheep and two lambs to the foreground. Even more !!! ..... the cover , which is also extensively covered with repousse swags , garlands etc , has a wonderful finial of a horned goat standing .
It is not often that I come across such a wonderful example of high Victorian silverware , in such perfect condition . Coupled with that , neither cartouche has any inscriptions , so plenty of room for your own story to be inscribed thereon.
There is no  inscription on this trophy loving cup  , so you can display it as it is or have your own dedication inscribed thereon.
The whole is in EXCELLENT CONDITION and is beautifully polished ready to go on display.
For your guidance , I use the words " EXCELLENT CONDITION " only if it is ........., " GOOD CONDITION " to indicate that there are no serious condition problems , but that there may be surface blemishes such as light discolouration , minor dings , dents or scratches commensurate with the age of the piece.............. I use the words " REASONABLE CONDITION " to indicate that there are blemishes and dings ,dents, creases , scratches , ripples etc . Under this condition category I will always qualify such defects , but please ask if you want any clarification of damages to any given piece.
