    Description

Here are three old cabinet photos of the Houser family.  First is a photo of a little boy in a white dress with a big dark color bow, white socks and black shoes.  On the back he is identified as Earl or Roy Houser.  Next is a photo of an older woman with her dark hair pulled back and curls at the bangs.  On the back is written Emma Houser, wife of Ralph Houser.  Last is a photo of a little girl in a dark color dress with light color trim.  Her hair is parted in the middle and has long curls down the side.  On the back is written Pappy Mansfield Calrsen in pencil and in ink Bertha Houser.  There are no dates written on the photos.  The photos of Emma and Bertha Houser were taken by photographers in Scranton, Pennsylvania and the photo of Earl or Roy was taken in Phillipsburg, New Jersey.  I did some research and found an Emma Houser, daughter of John and Jane (Clee) Shipton, who was married to a EUGENE B. Houser, not a Ralph, but they did have a son Ralph.  I found an online family tree that had this exact same photo of her as part of it, so I am pretty sure this is the right family.  Emma was born in 1861 and died in Scranton in 1946, her husband Eugene died in 1921 and they are buried in the Dunmore Cemetery in Lackawanna County, PA.  Emma and Eugene had children: Ralph, Bertha, Earl and Ida.  Could be the Bertha and Earl are the two children in the other two photos.  Bertha was born in Scranton in 1890.  She first married Albert F. Wolf in 1911, they had a son A. Fred Wolf, Jr. looks like Bertha and Albert were divorced in 1926.  Her second husband was Walter Wagstaff.  She died in 1972, her husband Walter died in 1974, they are also buried in Dunmore Cemetery.  Earl Houser was born in Scranton in 1896, he married a Dorothy Wall, he died in 1983, she died in 1978. and are also buried in Dunmore Cemetery.  As far as Ralph mentioned as Emma's husband, she and Eugene did have a son named Ralph Eugene Houser who was born 1887 and married a Ruth Hull.  He was in the auto parts business, and died in 1965, also buried in Dunmore Cemetery.  Great for anyone tracing the family history of the Houser family.  Postage will be 3.95 to the U.
