NOTE:  The above scan is close to the original.
The ORIGINAL is a sepia brown with a slight blue/lavender tinge, slightly more than seen above, and has very good contrast and clarity.  The stains are a little paler on the original.
This is an interesting and lovely antique Cabinet Photo.  It is a portrait of the long haired stunning beauty, Rose Wood.  Notice her gown that was risque for the era.  We are certain she was a Burlesque era actress, singer or performer, or all three.  Her career may have been short because we could learn nothing about her.  There is a portrait of her listed at an archival collection, but nothing more.  The portrait was taken by Thomas Houseworth of 12 Mongomery Street in San Francisco.  The backmark is brightly gilded and Houseworth's was well know for taking souvenir photos of California as well as portraits of actors and actresses.  Houseworth was born in New York City in 1828 and died in California in 1915.  His studio was at 9 and at 12 Montgomery Street from 1874 to 1886, so this photo is of that era, most likely the early 1880s.  The portrait is a brownish color with a slight blue/lavender tinge, slightly more than seen above, and it has very good contrast and clarity.  The stains on the front and back are a little paler than seen in our scans.  The corner tips are a little bumped as are a couple of the edges.  Please study our scans for the stains.  The Cabinet Card is 4 1/4 by 6 1/2 inches.  What a lovely portrait of a beautiful young Burlesque Actress!
