Here for your consideration is a sterling silver Alfred Hector cup and saucer. The Minerva mark located on these pieces is a higher standard for silver content than that of other nations, 950 per 1000. The Minerva mark is located just below the rim of the cup with makers mark on the underside. Minerva mark on the saucer is located on the underside along with "A" star form and "H", makers mark for Alfred Hector. The ornate handle on the cup is decorated in leaves, branches and grapes along with a chased coat of arms with two lions surrounding an eagle within a shield topped with a crown *(coast of arms chasing also present on the saucer). The Alfred Hector marks indicate a production date of 1881 - 1913. The cup measures 1 3/8 inches in height with a diameter of approximately 1 7/8 inches. The diameter of the plate is 4 1/8 inches with a height of .5 inch. Total weight for both pieces is 99.3 grams.
