Original period antique cabinet style portrait card. Signed on the back Yours Truly R. P. Whitfield. A rare original photograph of Paleontologist &  author Mr. Robert Parr Whitfield sitting in possibly his office or library. Mr. Whitfield is quite a . Unknown who the photographer was.
The photo is a little dirty, Breaks at the corners, crack along the center visible from the reverse side, crazing, spotting, showing some wear, age and uncleaned. One could reasonably trim the board to the image edge and maintain the integrity of the image and the signature on the back. The tape on the back, however, would have to be professionally removed.
Measures OD about 6 3/8" x 4 1/4"
