    Description
    Offering Cabinet Photo of Col. Robert Ingersoll. Size is 6⅜" x 4¼" with small tear bottom left, does not effect the image. Civil War Veteran, abolitionism, agnosticism, humanism and much more. Also served as 16th Attorney General of Illinois 1867-1869.
    Born in Dresden (Yates County) in 1833 and passed away in 1899 at Dobbs Ferry NY and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
    He raised the 11th Regiment Illinois Volunteer Cavalry of the Union Army and assumed command. The regiment fought in the Battle of Shiloh. Ingersoll was later captured in a skirmish with the Confederates near Lexington, Tennessee on December 18, 1862, then paroled.
