    Description

Navajo Style Cast Silver and Turquoise Belt Buckle
    Hózh;ó ~
    Perfect Balance & Proportions
    Dimensions:
    *
    3" x 2"
    *
Fits a belt up to 1 3/4" wide.
    Weight:
    *  1 7/8 ounces
    Center Stone:
    *
    The stone measures approximately 16mm x 11mm x 3mm.
    *  The center stone is
    very bright
, yet soft blue in color with hints of green and tiny webbing near the matrix.
    *  The matrix is a soft brown with hints of golden yellow.
    *  I've had 4 different people tell me the stone is: Cripple Creek, Dry Creek, Carico Lake, and Damele Turquoise.
(So, I'm not sure. In any event, the stone is bright and has a lovely polish!)
    *  The cabochon stone is set in a smooth-edged, silver bezel
    mount
wrapped in a twisted, silver rope.
    Process:
    *  This buckle is a cast piece. It is very smooth with a wonderful shine.
    Condition:
    * Stone: Perfect. Silver Buckle: Very good.
    * There is a "notch" on the end of one of the curved silver branches. I never noticed it until I was taking pictures.    So, while
it is seen in the images, it is hardly noticeable in life.
    Design:
    *  This is a beautiful silver belt buckle. Its proportions are perfect - it's not too thick and not too thin.
    *  The silver has a great finish and shine to it -
    not at
    all rough or bumpy.
    *  The stone is the perfect focal point for it.
    *  There is a gentle curve to it's overall shape, making it very comfortable to wear. (See images)
NOTE: Because the piece is not stamped, I cannot list it as a Navajo buckle. All I am permitted to say is that it is in the Navajo style, or Navajo inspired.
This design is based on the Navajo Ketoh.
    *  Ketohs were leather wrist bands worn by archers to protect their wrists from getting snapped by the
bow string as they shot an arrow.
    *  These Ketohs were embellished with designs based on the Hozho (Perfect balance, beauty, and harmony).
    *  The usefulness of these wristbands eventually became fashion, first worn as leather and eventually
    evolving to include silver.
