    Description

Cabinet card photograph (just over 5 ½” by 8 ½”) of Frank Quimby of Lewiston, Maine, by Flagg & Plummer of Lewiston, circa 1900s. The portrait view, identified on the reverse as Frank Quimby, Uncle Frank, shows a man with a very substantial walrus mustache posing for his likeness in a photographic studio. This is Franklin Quimby (1854-1914). Raised in Augusta and Farmington, Maine, Frank Quimby lived most of his adult life in Lewiston, where he worked as a store clerk and then in the textile mills. He lived with his family at 39 Birch Street and 40 College. The Shaking My Tree genealogy blog gives considerable information about Frank Quimby and his family. The cabinet card is in only fair to good condition with light to moderate wear and soiling. There are a couple of tears and some roughness around the edges, with a heavy crease and damage at the bottom right corner. The photograph (not affected by those flaws) exhibits good or better tonal range and shows good or better detail. A nice Lewiston ME related image!
