Oxidized "Splash" Copper
Native copper is used to make these artistic free-form sculptures. No two are alike and the shapes are open to many different visual interpretations.
Splash Copper Sculptures are made by pouring molten copper at 2200 degrees Fereinheit into trays filled with water and straw. When the shapes are cooled, a green or turquoise colored chemical patina is applied, then highlightsare buff polished to expose the glowing solid copper underneath. The sculptures are sprayed to preserve the finish and to prevent the copper from tarnishing.
Old customs of the early miners indicate that lead was used in the above process. Fortune telling was a New Year's Day pastime; good or bad luck was determined by the shape and size of the sculpture. Following the old traditions, this sculptured copper has been proudly manufactured in Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsul

Copper is an excellent conductor of energy, from electricity to the mystical subtle energies emanating from higher planes, etc. Thus, copper is said to enhance and transmit thoughts, even over long distances.
Copper is used in traditional folk remedies and crystal healing lore to bring in additional energies for all types of healing, treatment of arthritis, relieving pain of broken bones, sexual instability, and low energy.
