Description
This is a very pretty figural powder jar made by Dermay. It is art deco style with a semi-nude woman as the pedestal holding the bowl of the powder jar on her head. Her midsection is covered with a scarf which drapes down from the bowl, wraps her body, and pools at her feet behind her. The bowl has a very slight frost to it and the rest is clear and bright. It is a very pretty soft pink color. It is marked "Dermay Fifth Avenue New York" but it is very faint and almost illegible (see picture 6). It is rare to see this style with the Dermay marking and even more difficult to find in this color. It is approximately 9.5" tall, 5" in diameter across the bowl, and 3.25" in diameter across the base. There are some condition issues. There are scratches on the inside and outside of the bowl (inside ones are shown in picture 8). There is also a groove and a slightly darkened rub ring around the inside of the rim (picture 11). There are some flea bites that can be felt on the inner and outer rim of the bowl and two small chips in the lid (lid chips shown in pictures 9 and 10). The lid has a small chip on the edge of the finial (not pictured) and some vertical scrapes on the inner side of the lip, shown from the outside in picture 12. There is a small black dot embedded in the glass in the base, shown in picture 7 (the swirl visible below the black dot is the "D" in Dermay on the underside). There are tiny bubbles in the glass in the bowl and lid. I am limited to 12 pictures in a listing but if you would like additional pictures, please feel free to message me and I will send you more.
