    Description

    Effie Shannon (1867-1954) was a very beautiful and popular American stage and silent film actress. She made her stage debut at the age of 9. She played Little Eva in Uncle Tom’s Cabin at the age of 10. Her amazing 68 year career extended from 1876-1944! From 1885-1944 she starred in 56 Broadway productions. 1886: In “Tangled Lives” she was “looking sweetly pretty.” 1887: As Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream she was “delightful” and “a picture of loveliness.” From 1914-1932 she starred in 25 films, her last appearance at the age of 65. Her final stage appearance was on Broadway in "Arsenic and Old Lace" at the age of 77! She died at the age of 87.
