I have always loved Native American Art, and JewelryArt, Jewelry boxes, etc..
Tin Toys,,
Famous Artist Memorabilia...
And a Fine collection of Native American Jewelry
So I was incredibly excited when a friend asked me to help sell his father's collection.
His father was an antique dealer who specialized in the Depression era. He was a "hands on" type collector, who traveled a lot, mostly to pick up things where they were common and to bring them to where they were not.
When he passed away he left his son (my friend) several buildings full of half forgotten treasures.
This ring came from a collection of boxes that gave every indication they had not been touched by his father since the 80's. Many pieces in this collection would qualify to be called "Old Pawn."
This ring is quite the piece of art. It is an example of what is called "intarsia," where several pieces of stone are placed together in a mosaic.
The stones used here are exceptional. First we have the robin's egg blue of what appears to be
Sleeping Beauty Turquoise
, against a nice piece of
Mother of Pearl
(or abalone), 2 deep blue pieces of
Lapis Lazuli
, followed by
Jet
,
Spiny Oyster Shell
, and finally what appears to be a fine specimen of
Lookout Mountain Waterweb Turquoise
. In particular, I love the contrast between the even blue of Sleeping Beauty and the complex matrix of the Waterweb.
All of these stones show the clear signs of hand lapidary and the lack of machine tools. Real time, effort, and care went into making this ring.
This ring weighs 6.7 grams and is a size 7 1/2.
This ring is marked as Sterling (and was tested) but has no hallmark. (Hallmarks were rare before the 1970's, and I suspect this ring is much older than that.)
***important info below***
Because I am selling jewelry for a friend, and because his father (who probably remembered every bit of history on each piece) has passed away, I am careful to test each piece as extensively as possible, minus destructive testing. Stones are examined under magnification, and using the same filters, tools and light sources a gemologist would use, metals are tested and confirmed. I am not a professional jeweler, but I make every effort to ensure each piece is as accurately described as possible. I do not want to cheat a customer and ruin my eBay reputation, nor do I want to accidentally sell a k heirloom piece for .
I generally do not accept returns on eBay because it is too easy to become a rental outfit. However, if you determine that this ring does not meet the description I have given you, contact me, let me know what is wrong, and I will accept a return.

Briefly about me
I have been a member of eBay for many years, I started selling hand made replica medieval armour, and then for many years sold antique and obsolete computers, I still have many of these items, but have put them aside to help sell for a friend. I am not an expert in the things I am currently selling, but I am honest, and believe in providing an accurate description of what I have.
