    Description

For your consideration is a outstanding Mixed Metal Cup, made by Whiting, Circa 1880. Decorated with a applied copper and sterling Bug on one side and what looks to be a applied Copper and Brass cluster of Cherries on the other side. This Piece is hand-hammered and made with very heavy gauge silver. A top quality Mixed Metal Piece. This Cup is in good age-appropriate condition- two dings on sides (see photo’s #9,10) a few minuscule base dings, and some light age-appropriate wear, such as tiny rim nicks ( see photo #3). Inscription on underside of base “Helen Louise Merrick EPIPHANY EVE 1881 From her Grandmother”. Marked: Whiting’s Hallmark of a Lion with it’s paw on a “W”, “STERLING 267 K”. Weight: 229 Grams. Height: 3 5/16 Inches. Top diameter: 3 Inches. Width: 4 1/4 Inches. Thank you for looking and good luck!
